The optimal prism for your application
Leica Geosystems offers a transparent selection of prisms in various sizes for different areas of application. These are standard prisms, special prisms, mini prisms as well as monitoring prisms.

HIGHEST ACCURACY

The prisms distinguish themselves through a centring accuracy of under 1mm and the best possible beam deviation of < 2" to achieve the maximum range.

MAXIMUM LIFETIME

Optimised for common operating distances, these prisms exhibit a beam deviation of up to 8" The special working of the optical coating, unique on the market, provides an above average lifetime.

COST EFFECTIVE MEASURING

Despite its attractive cost-performance ration, the 1000 series fulfils the strict Leica Geosystems process controls as well as users’ high demands regarding lifetime.

How does a survey prism work?

Survey prisms can be used with another electronic distance measurement (EDM) device to determine the distance of an object from a specific survey point, and they’re often attached to a prism pole so they can focus on a specific position.

Corner cube prisms (also called “ retroreflectors”) are often used for this type of measurement, and they will have some type of offset because the beam being transmitted from the device takes longer to leave the prism (especially from longer distances). This can be corrected by using a feature that accounts for this offset in relation to the plumb line of the surveying prism pole.

What is the best way to use a prism?

A precise tip will allow you to use a variety of prism heights — from mini to full-size. Just put the prism you want to use on the pole, and make sure it’s even for proper reading. For a more precise adjustment, it’s best to do it horizontally on the floor.
